Re: broken thermo housing bolt

that sux same thing happened to me once
#1 get a center punch
#2 make sure you center your drilling VERY IMPORTANT
#3 start with the smallest bit you can DO NOT line up the bottom of the bit (where the swirls stop) with the chuck, it will be a weak point and brake.
#4 lub the bits with wd 40 of something when drilling
#5 be very careful with the tap go 1/2 right then 1/4 back to the left.DO NOT SNAP TAP that what happened to me.

good luck i hope this helps

Re: broken thermo housing bolt

is the rest of the bolt sticking out of the manifold ? you said it broke at top of thermostat housing . if so , your lucky . if enough of the bolt is sticking out of the manifold to get channel locks or vise grips on . wire brush all rust away , soak with wd-40 , pb blaster , good penetrent oil . take your time , tap bolt stud with hammer while soaking with wd40 . go get a cool one come back out . few more taps and wd40 , try channel locks . still no go apply heat [ propne torch ] to manifold bolt area . wd , tapping , heat , channel locks , should do it . LOL

wish it was that ez i went out and bought a **** ton of bits, carbide bits are the ****, i managed to get the neck off ground down the stubbs, we tried these square ez outs, they were ****, never buy powerbuilt tools there crap to!!, all they did was break off and i had them jammed in there right, whut crap, i took the other bolt, well tried to and it broke, obviously the idiot who had the car before me over tightended them big time, so im taking the manifold off, gonna take it to a machine shop have them buzz it really quick, if i had the cash id put a aftermarket one on, but baby on the way gotta save that dough :/
