Mech fan shroud fitment

ok im converting over to a mech fan, theres a shroud im looking at thats from a 84 Z28.

Are the shrouds different between birds and camaros, or can I drop it in and call it a day?

(please don't come in here saying blah blah blah about electric fans)

Re: Mech fan shroud fitment

Fan shrouds are the same between Camaro and Firebird. If you have a factory power steering fluid cooler(pipe) you may have to tweak the metal lines near the steering box to clear the mechanical fan shrould.

No I don't think i have a cooler, but I do haveone really long powersteering line that goes underneath/kind of infront of the radiator support is that what you mean?

also hawks shows dif p/n for camaro and firebird shrouds, and they seem a bit different from the pictures.

you sure there interchangable?

Yup. Thats the fluid cooler. Its suppose to cool the fluid slightly before it goes back into the PS pump reservoir.

Re: Mech fan shroud fitment

I too am tired of the e-fan set up on my 84! I have it controlled by a on/off switch.

Gotta do the salvage yard search for a shroud/fan/extension set up and its good to know the bird/z shrouds are different!

This rust free NC Z is gonna be heading to my Daytona house for my Fla. winter car! I am sick of the yearly drive from NY to Fl !
I have my Goat for NY summer crusin'!
I want to make sure that somebody won't forget the switch and cook my motor!

Re: Mech fan shroud fitment

The camaro shrouds use an 18.5"fan,firebird 17" fan
both are deep-pitch 7 blade clutch fans, the fan used
on the '82-'85 camaros is also found on '81 2nd gen
camaros, firebird 17"version is also found on some
cadillacs with the 368 or diesel engines, clutch hub
might be different on those.
