Did the shop put in the wrong radiator?

Hi folks. I blew a radiator a few weeks ago- I mean BLEW IT UP! The thing split in two- damn plastic crap. Anyway, I had a shop put in a new one and the other day I am checking under the hood and my 5 year old goes 'daddy, it's leaking'. Bright lad. What he was pointing at was an additional outlet just below the radiator cap on the rear of the radiator that had a plastic/rubber cap hoseclamped on it. The cap was swollen, cracked and leaking. I replaced it with one I picked up on an emergency Pep Boys run, but tonight I had to replace THAT, because it was doing the same thing. Does this sound like a normal situation, or do you think they just used a generic radiator instead of putting in the correct one?

No, I have one of those! This outlet is bigger and below it...

Sounds like an outlet to screw in a coolant level sensor. Go back to the shop and ask them to screw in a cork or something so it wont leak.

If it is large enough to take a 5/8ths heater hose then thats suppose to run to the heater core and climate control system plumbing distribution block thing.
