Gauge sender

I need to change my gauge sending unit on the driver side. What do I need to put on the threads so that it seals good? Also is there a easy was to prevent all of the coolant from pouring out when the sending unit is removed?
Thanks
Sean

Re: Gauge sender

U can use some silicon, if u have aluminum heads u might want to use some anti-seize. i usually use that thread sealer(thin plastic deal to cover pipe threads) available at ur local parts store. best advise is to have ur new sending unit ready to thread in before u take the old one off. the coolant doesn't start leaking out until the last few threads. u can also jack up the car from the drivers side

good luck

Re: Gauge sender

I am replacing it with one from a donor car and when I removed that one it gushed pretty good. I like the idea of jacking up the driver side and think this might work pretty good. Thanks for the help.
