electric fans not working

well i have an 85 IROC and the electric fan is not working.
it worked yesterday, but i had a wire over-amp and melt.
i replaced the wire, and checked the fuse, and all is good.
however now, my fan doesnt work.

im not sure if they are related or not, but chances are, they are.
the wire is some rigged in wire. it goes to the positive terminal of the battery, to a handmade junction (a bunch of connectors bolted together) and connects to a orange wire that goes into a thick harness.

the orange wire seems to go to something like a relay mounted behind the headlights, at which point a 4 wires split and go all over the place, but 2 go to the fan.

if anyone has a complete harness they dont want, then id love to have it, otherwise, i need some help here.
how do i test whats wrong

this harness really is hacked up quite a bit.
