Getting hotter while driving

Well I got a quick question. Its not really that big of a problem but its just kinda bothering me. It cools fine at idle the fan kicks on for a few secs cools down like its suposed to do. Driving in the morning or later at night the temp runs around 170-180. This is on my project car that has a aftermarket alum radiator 2 row 1" flute its around 29" Long x 2.5"Thick x 19" Tall, has adjustable temp for fan control, has a 16" elec. fan I think, has a 160 degree stat. the correct size hose going to and from the engine block. But the problem is when it gets anywhere from 85-95 outside and cruising down the road it can climb over to 210 sometimes if not a little more. The car didn't orginal come with a air dam but i built one to see if it would help when driving. i think it did a little. I'm using a used water pump and going to replace pretty soon to see if it helps. The engine is a stock 350 out of a 95 truck with tbi. And the rpm at cruising speed is around 2400-2500 happens when you have 4.30 gears and 235-55-17. So could the pump just be worn out and not able to move the coolant good enough going down the road?

Just a few thoughts. First, make sure your water pump is for your block. Truck motors may not use reverse rotation pumps like many F-body's use. Also sounds like you might have an air pocket in your cooling system. Make sure your system is purged. Good luck.
