AC rapidly clicking on and off
AC rapidly clicking on and off
I recenlty noticed my AC clutch clicking on and off rather fast. It clicks every 15 seconds. My AC runs cool, not cold. Is it my switch or is the level of my R12 low? I've never charged my AC system and I've never had a problem with my AC till now.
I ran a jumper on my low pressure switch and the rapid on/off stopped and the AC clutch stayed on the entire time the jumper wire was in.
My question is what is the probem? The switch? Or low coolant?
How do you change the switch? When you swap out the low psi switch, will it let out all the R12?
I did search with little results.
thanks for the help

Re: AC rapidly clicking on and off
Sounds like you are just low on freon, and the switch is working properly. Don't run it when it is low on freon with the jumper or it could cause damage to your compressor. Better to get it recharged then swap it all out. If you are running R12, I hope you have a license to get it, that and its about 50 bucks a can.

I agree it sounds like you are low on freon. Most shops still carry it so you can get it recharged with little to no hassle.
