Just bad luck?
OK, so about six months ago, my car developed a coolant leak on the radiator. It was where the tank attaches to the core on the passenger side. It wouldn't leak until after it had been driven and was up to temperature, and the car never overheated. I chalked it up to age and the fact that the car had been sitting for 4+ years. I replaced it with a radiator from the local boneyard.
Just the other day, I notice the replacement is doing the exact same thing only on the driver's side. I had some other problems with the car in the meantime and I've only put about 2500 miles on this replacement radiator.
I know you run a certain risk when you get parts from the junkyard, but $20 was a lot more doable than $100 at the time and I took the risk.
Seeing as how this radiator failed in almost the exact same way as the other, in such a short amount of time, I'm wondering if I have an underlying problem. The only modification (if you even want to call it that) is the throttle body coolant passage is bypassed. No overheating issues at all, and the car runs fine.
Thoughts/Opinions?
