Felxilite VSC Problem
I have an 88 Camaro Iroc-Z with a 305 TBI (L03). The only way my electric fan comes on is with the AC on. I have a thread posted on here about this from a while ago.
To make a long story short. I gave up on the vehicles wiring and purchased a Flexilite Variable Speed Control (Part # 31165). I installed the first one I purchased and as soon as I would plug the fuse in the fan would come on. Car was cold as ice and key was out. I called flexilite help line and they told me to return it for an exchange (bad unit). So thats what I did. I got my exchange and installed it and same thing. As soon as you put power to the fuse the fan comes on.
I have gone as far as unplugging all of the connections with the fuse in. The fans stay running until the power wire is cut. The ground is cut, switched source is unplugged, and the wire going to the compressor were unplugged as well.
I am pretty familiar with multimeters, and wiring diagrams. I can't figure the damn thing out.
This leads me to believe that there is a short somewhere. I have replaced everything (fan relay, fan switch, temp sending unit).
Does anyone have any ideas as to the problem.
The part that is being shown is the (31163), same thing except no threaded parts. All wiring is the same.
