New water pump new leak
New water pump new leak
I have a 92 firebird with a TBI 305 V8 Code E. I just finished installing my water pump and I poured in new antifreeze and it leaked out right away. The new water pump only had 2 bolts in it and a outlet for the lower radiator hose, I put sealant around the bolts with the gaskets and I connected the lower radiator hose very tight. And now it leaks heavily. Has anyone had this same problem before? When I look under the car I see only drips coming from the bottom of the timing chain area which is right under the water pump. Any suggestions?

If you didn't remove all the old gasket material off the engine block, then it will leak.

If you didnt clean the inside of the hose befor installing that can cause leaks. I would run it then crawl under and locate the leak.

just how tight did you connect the lower rad hose? If you really tightened the hell out of it you may have put a hose in the hose with the clamp, or cracked the pump it self..
