hot water valve delete, affect A/C

if i take the hot water valve (also called heater valve) out and go stright to the heater core from the intake and then from the heater core directly to the rad, will it affect the cooling of the A/C.....i got it ghetto rigged now and it still seems to blow cold, and the heat works when you move it to heat...i just havent got it out to drive to see if it will really hurt the A/C's cooling

<Car Stats

if it will cool w/o the vlave then its going bye bye, but if i need it for the a/c to work good then i guess i will need to put a W.T.B. post out for one

The valve prevents hot coolant from running thru the heater core when the HVAC controls are not on a 'heat' setting

When the AC is on the heater core is blocked by a vacuum controlled door. You wont notice the difference

Just be sure to plug the vacuum line that went to the valve or youll have a fun leak to track down

I had done this on my 89 and and had good results. The A/C still worked well, may have been a couple degrees warmer than had I kept the valve, but nothing to really complain about. Plus it meant I could see a bit more of that engine hiding underneath

I just recently did this, and to prevent the hot coolant from flowing to the heater core in the summer, I put a simple 3/4" ball valve in between the manifold hose and the heater core. It is pictured below. It has the red on/off valve on it right in front of the heater core. Can pick one up from home depot for around $8.
