[Resolved] Dual Fan TPI (Passenger Fan Always On)

This car is original. I believe the passenger fan is the one that comes on when you flip the AC on. Correct? It runs whether the AC is on or not. So I'm trying to figure out what's making it think the AC is on all the time. I checked the relay mounted on the passenger side fender. It's clicking and working ok.

Now where do I go?

FAN TALE

Make sure your control is not in the DEFROST position.

Make sure your FAN A/C PRESSURE SWITCH is not stuck in the closed position.

Happy Racing!

Re: Dual Fan TPI (Passenger Fan Always On)

I'm not seeing a A/C fan pressure switch on the schematic. I see a heavy duty coolant fan switch on the passenger rear cylinder head. It says it closes at 238 degrees which trips the fan on. The only other thing I see is the heavy duty coolant fan relay which is working fine.

The control is in the off position. I have cycled it through all the settings and back to off again while the key was in the run position. Fan continues to run.

the shop manual says to pull the FP FAN fuse which I did and the fan turned off. If the fan stayed on it would be a bad relay. So I'm back to the fan switch on the cylinder head.

Where is this A/C fan pressure switch?

Re: Dual Fan TPI (Passenger Fan Always On)

Resolved: My problem was the coolant fan switch in the passenger side cylinder head is bad. However, I broke the plastic connector that plugs into the sensor trying to unhook it. So now I'm SOL unless I can find another connector.

Is that the connector that looks like the knock sensor connection (1-wire I believe)?

I was actually having the exact same issue prior to tearing my car apart. When I took the motor out, I found the harness was broken at the sensor.

You can get a pigtail at ANY parts store.

Yes it's the 1-wire. Thanks a million for that link. That's exactly what it looks like.

You can get it at the dealer for about $20. They may not stock it though. I just checked on that about 2 weeks ago
