Newb here! Questions about the factory settings of the fans 88 GTA

Hello ,I'm a newb here. I have owned 12 F-Bodies over the last 13 years but i have never owned a 3rd gen. My Buddy just purchased a 88 GTA for his son. He has a 195 degree thermo in the car. He said 1 fan kicks on but the 2nd fan doesn't come on til around 245 degrees. Also when the car is moving its fine but when the car is stopped for a period of time it will shoot up in temperture. What are the factory settings for fans to turn on? Does 1 fan turn on before the other or are they supposed to come on together. Any help would be appreciated. thanks

Sounds like it's working just the way it's supposed to. I've got an 88 Iroc and I have the service manual. The second fan shuts off when the vehicle is down to 243*F. The temp shoots up when it stops because there isn't much of a grille in these cars. It needs that wind coming in to help cool the radiator.

Upgrade to AC Delco D1855B fan switch. 210-215* on/200* off, so it'll work with the stock thermostat.

I put this switch in my car and now both fans start and stop near the same time.
