that air spoiler thingy
how important is that damn thing? i have a 92 rs camaro and i have the air dam thing but its not installed. and i need to do some driving. now i now if im on the high way itll overheat...i think, right? but i wont be going more then 45 mph so will it stay cool? bc looking at it i fail to see why i need it at all with how the air going tho the non exsistant grill is sat up, the air flow directly to the raditor. it does have a 305 HO backed by a 700r4 and electric. also itll be like 30-40 degrees here in va.

Re: that air spoiler thingy
Fans won't cool at any speed above 30mph. There is virtually no air flow "through the grill" into the radiator. The air dam works by creating a low pressure area (a vacuum) behind the radiator that pulls the cool air through the radiator. The car was designed to have the air dam, and it's quite necessary. You can fight it all you want, but it's a necessary part that we all have, and all have to have. What's your beef with it anyway? Unless you're looking for it, you can't even see it. Put it on like it's supposed to be.

Re: that air spoiler thingy
you got a pic of what you are talking about. i am doing a 86 berl. and switching out the front/rear bumper cover with a 90 or so rs and putting all the ground effects on it. i took a black section off the bottom to remove the bumper cover and i would like to know if it is what you are talking about so i know to put it back on. its almost like a black cover for the bottom of the nose that is in two sections connected by a small portion in the middle.

If your electric fan isn't functioning as it should, get an aftermarket controller - mine made all the difference in the world with my fan operation.

Sorry - no pic - but what you describe is not it. It's a black piece about 3 foot long, 1 inch thick, bolts directly under the radiator, and points downward - the bottom of it is only 2-3 inches above the ground.

Not sure why your electric fan is "f-ing things up" - sounds like something that needs tended to but theres no incentive. Electric fans are in every car after about 1995, beter get it fixed and get used to it.

Ford Tarus fan assembly (shroud and all) fixed mine, moves more air than the stock GM unit. and a simple upgrade

Re: that air spoiler thingy
The air dam on the bottom of the car forces air up into the radiator....you HAVE to have it to get air into it....it has nothing to due with mechanical or electric fans. The '84 has a smaller nose on it and probably gets enough air, but the 92 gets 99 percent of the air from underneath the car....it's like four or six small screws to put it on, takes like 10 min. tops. Not a big deal to install
