Transmission: 700r4
WHAT IS THIS?

I have looked and looked but i can not for the life of me figure out what this part is, all i know is that it is hooked up to the A/C unit and branches into my throttle body. I figure its a sensor or valve or something but idk, can anyone help?

that is the heater control valve-the reason it has a port
connected to the throttle body is to circulate hot coolant
to the throttle body in order to prevent the throttle
body from icing up in certain cold weather conditions.
As far as i know,only cars from about 1987-up have
this valve.

Does it have a line that runs to the throttle body? I thought the rubber tube running to the throttle body was for a PCV setup. I've never seen a heater control valve that runs coolant through the throttle body. I have seen coolant circulators that sat on top of a carb or TBI intake to help cool the air/fuel mix as it enters the intake.

Yes, coolant runs from the front of the intake base through a short hose to the driver's side of the throttle body, then into a passage on the the bottom of the throttle body, then out the passenger's side into the aforementioned control valve.

A "TB coolant bypass" is a fairly common mod; performed to reroute the coolant directly to the control valve from the intake base. Here's a link.
