Terminology Confusion

Some terminology has me confused. Please hang in there while I try to explain without causing myself a coma-induced headache!!

Our Camaro is an '87. It has a '92 350.( P.O. installed ).

NO ECM.( again, P.O. )

I've been reading the COOLING forum for awhile today, & now I'm confused with the terminology!

****Coolant fan sensor. Coolant fan sender.****

****Temp sensor. Temp sender.****

Does any of this need to concerne me?

The fan is a 16 ". I wired it per directions, & have a manual toggle switch also.
There is a " switch " with a grey wire I put on the intake. When I use the toggle, the fan works both on & off. I'm going to 'zone to get a temp gauge to check the fan // temp thing is working aaas it should with out relying too much on the toggle. The relay & " switch " are Summit. (185* on)

After reading some threads, I also am confused about where I should run the " switch " that's on the intake, & where I should run the temp gauge!

Intake is aluminum. There is NO air dam // deflector under the rad, but there is a huge air scoop right behind the grill that goes to the front of the rad.
Do I need to get 1???

I have driven it for 30-40 minutes twice a day last spring & summer without boiling over, but not knowing the temp has me concerned, so today I am getting a temp gauge!!

Thanks for ANY advice!!
