okay have a leak:no clue where from????...help

okay so im drivin round yesterday and noticed some water coming from underneath my car....did not think twice about it because my A/C condensates like the rest of them. then realized my ac was not on. so its leaking very close to (or dripping down close to) the oil filter(drivers side).more towards the back of the engine bay. the leak is not visible from the top of the engine bay so its not hoses or anything like that. also another weird fact is that it does not smell like anti freeze. just water. and i have Anti freeze in my car..

Does your car have the adapter above the oil filter, that has 2 metal lines that coolant runs through? Maybe that?

Your AC does not have to be on to dribble water. Sometimes, especially with older cars, the drain tube becomes at least partially clogged, and water collects inside your evaporator housing... then when the debris floats aside, the water finds its way out. You may want to inspect the drain tube, and maybe chase it with a stiff wire to clear it out.

you would not happen to know what that adapter is for do you. and that sounds like it may be that just cause its on the opposite side.but i have not been able to get under her yet, probably wont get a chance to til monday. i was mainly looking for a cause of coolant being in that location. but thanks ternandes for that info i may do that anyway lol just in case.

sometimes when the waterpump gaskets leak, the water runs down the oil pan rail and to the filter, then drips off the filter. So it could be coming from a bunch of places. But is it just water, or coolant/antifreeze?

Re: okay have a leak:no clue where from????...help

well i can not answer for sur but dragging my finger through it revealed no smell but that 'water' smell. it was a little viscous but i assumed since its actually dripping around the rear of the engine to the right(no water actually runs off the filter) it might be collecting build up on the way down but idk... im gonna have to wait til tomorrow to look at it. it also does not leak (or pour out) while running just after i turn it off.
