not your typical cooling question
i don't have a overheating problem . . . is it normal for my temp to be at 100 degress? even while i bang gears and drive it hard? i'm used to my 2000 camaro and the temp gauge staying at 208 the entire time regardless of driving habit. any input is appreciated

Re: not your typical cooling question
Either your sender is bad (driver side head between #1 & #3 spark plug), or your guage is bad.

guage works as far as i can tell cause when i drove it home from the seller's place on saturday in traffic it was gettin at 220 and would just hold there in stop and go traffic. i'm going to drain the coolant and replace the t-stat tomorrow morning and if that doesn't fix it i'll pick up a new sender.

He could be right.
My IROC had a canadian gauge cluster in it from the factory and the temp is in *C.

Did you remove that cluster? Do you still have it?

I had that happen once when my thermostat stuck open. Drove it for 45 minutes to class and it never went above 100. Idling around the parking lot got it up to 160.

temp gauge works now! but didn't drive it around long enough to let the temp get up to 200 and see if the fan turns on
