Is the bottom of the block that much colder?

I just got wiring in a fan control module. The module has never been used before, but it has been sitting for atleast 4 or 5 years. I put the sensor in the drian hole in the bottom of the block. Even with my temp guage reading 200 or 210, the fan does not come on. I know my wiring is right, there really isnt much too it. I also have a switch connected to the module thru the wire that you would hook up to the AC compressor. The switch does turn the fan on so I know the module is working to a degree. My temp sensor for my guage is located right next to the thermostat.

I know the block is the first thing to get the cooled water and the colder water is going to be on the bottom, but could there really be a 50 degree difference between the bottom of the block and the top of the intake? Or do you think maybe the sensor is bad? If the temp difference is possible, I'll try to relocate the sensor for the module.

Wow, alright. I guess I'll have to move the sensor. Hopefully the wires will reach to the back of the intake.

Are you tapping into water areas or oil areas? You mentioned the bottom of the block, and the rear of the intake - I don't know of any water passages at the bottom of the block. And if you are referring to the rear of the intake at the china wall, that is an oil passage, not a water passage.

I bought a be cool fan relay for mine

I mounted it on the side of the core support next to radiator and ran the sensor into the top radiator hose kicks on at exactly 180

I have the sensor currently in the bottom of the block. Its actually the drain hole I think, it just made for a clean look as you dont really see it. I think I'm going to move it to the back of the intake manifold. The manifold I have didnt have water ports at the back of the intake, but I cut the ridges off and drilled and tapped the manifold so I could run coolant lines from the back of the intake to the front. I'll just get a tee fitting for one of the sides and put the sensor there.

The best location is the head, that's where most of the heat is generated
