Re: AC is so HOT

Your system might need to be charged with some freon/134A.....Or if the compressor is bad? You would need a new compressor, but that requires capturing the freon to put back in the system, or putting all new freon/134A in.

Could be a bad compressor/bad condensor/leaking hoses/many things.....

I agree with Stephen, something sounds like its shot. New ac isnt cheap though. Just paid 425 last week for all new setup. Totally worth it though in Texas heat. Now I just need a damn headlinner.

Re: AC is so HOT

Do you really think I am going to buy of those online for 18$ and wait for shipping when I can search google for a .pdf and download it.... and you call yourself a moderator?

Thanks everyone else, I am going to drive it to a mechanic and he will diagnoise it for free and tell me whats wrong as in none of you guys are helping but just telling me that it could be this or that, and it's worth 500$ to fix, just what I want to hear, lol

Second thought, why would you buy a 425$ air conditioning unit when you can by a portable 12v air condition to stick in your car for less then 200$.. and probably get alot colder, lol... people these days

Nice attitude. We try to help you & you develop an attitude. Your mechanic can physically look at your car and check things. All we can do over the internet is tel YOU what to check. We can do it for you.

Don't ask for help again. If that is how you wanna treat those who try to jelp you from thousands of miles away? You won't get our "useless help" again.

He was just being realistic, if you're going to replace everything on your A/C to make it work it will cost you some coin. Just bring it to your mechanic and stop posting about it on the internet. It will get done faster.

No. Everyone gave you suggestions on how to fix the problem FOR YOURSELF. You wanted everyone to just say..."Take it to a mechanic."? That isn't being helpful at all. If you wanted to do that, why'd you bother asking here on TGO? This site is about helping fix things for themselves & not pay a mechanic to fix it for them or to find their problems. Man up & find the problem yourself.

Nobody had idiotic ideas & 1 person just told you what he paid to replace his ENTIRE system, that's all.

Re: AC is so HOT

dude, this is one of the things i like about this site, theres no sh*t talkers on here and you shouldnt be one because the ones that are or in most casses were, are either banned or actually straighten up and then everything is ok.

I didnt see ANYONE being the slightist bit rude, you asked for help on what it could be and how to fix it, help was given, UNTIL you started to get an atitude for NO reason. And some people like an stock looking a/c, not an rigged up sloppy one.

also you asked for an diy book or manual (Not in exact words but that is obviosly what you ment, the mod. gave an link to an book that could be usefull and then you whip out and say you can just go online and get it blah blah blah.

and you cant just expect EVERYONE to know what the problem is and im sure if you waited more then an few hours you would of eventually got some help, if not, theres no reason for an attitude

this is used often but you deserved to be !!!!!!!!!!

Re: AC is so HOT

Whats wrong with sinking 500$ for a/c in a 1990 car? But chances are you probably don't need to.
Did you not expect to put money into a car with over 150k on it?
Nobody said it was going to cost 500$ for it to be fixed, it was stated that RS Chris spent 425$ to have everything new for his a/c.

We are trying to help, the link posted for the Automotive Heating & Air Conditioning Manual, was a great post I would of thanked Apeiron and either bought the book or looked for a play to download it.

Stephen also gave you things to look for "Could be a bad compressor/bad condensor/leaking hoses/many things....."

We aren't there to look at the car and tell you whats wrong with it, we can only give you suggestions

If it makes you feel any better I fixed my A/C for 22$, I had to install a compressor shaft seal, lucky for my I had and the tool and gauges to change the seal and recharge my system. My A/C blows cold.

The internet is such serious business

Re: AC is so HOT

Wow, you really know how to make an entrance dont you? This is a really great and knowledgeable site full of talent and knowledge. Nobody was trying to insult you until you started up with the attitude. And to tell a CO-FOUNDER of the website that you just signed up for that he doesnt know what he is doing.....ballsy. You wont find a better site to get help with your car issues then here, but I guess since you seem to be able to Google just about anything, you already know that also. Anyhow, here's a link that I think you'll find more to your liking and maturity level. Enjoy.

the A/C module is hard to find . its concealed by the plastic plate with the levers and fan switch . look just above the radio , thats where it should be . could be yours was relocated by some mechanical genius . good luck . ( get a better attitude , remove your head from your rectum . there is a wealth of information on this site . with your attitude i doubt that very much would/could help you . )

Welcome to the Internet. Do you really feel that people should be able to diagnose your car, on the spot without any room for error, without even being able to have any access to your car? Your A/C system could be low on freon, could have the compressor disconnected or even removed or other parts of the A/C system removed. Without even seeing the car, how can you expect members of this site to be able to tell you exactly what the issue is? Cars are not always that cut and dry.

As you were previously asking where the oil pan is located, https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tech...ml#post4632618, I think Apeiron's advise is appropriate as it appears you will need help from both this site, as well as Google and other sources, as it appears you are new to cars in general. We can try to help, but you're going to need to help yourself as well.
