Heater blower motor mounting plate?

I have a couple questions...

1. EDIT: Just ordered a new motor, so that's fixed.

2.What is that vent tube for? If the vent tube is disconnected, would that affect the amount of air through the interior vents?

3. Is the motor held onto the heater box with a separate mounting plate? Mine doesn't have this (circled in red).

Re: Heater blower motor casing wrong?

The tube feeds airflow back to the motor to keep it cool. Since GM designed it that way, I assume it's needed (or they thought it was).

Any piece of tubing can be used that "fits the bill" - it was just a rubber tube - you could rig another longer tube to get where you need. Doesn't need to be gas proof or anything - just a method of pushing air back to cool the motor.
