cooling help
hey i have a weird problem my trans am runs fine but after normal running it gets hot like almost in ther red but it never makes it to the red when its sitting idle its stays arround 220 230 but under a load it gets hot i replaced thr radiator, thermostat,water pump works fine i haave been told it might have an air pocket trapped some where or the timingwas out of wack cause the valves rattle some times but it runs fine am i just paranoid or is there somthing wrong any help would be great thanks

1) Factory gauges on a good day are usually far from accurate - unless coolant is boiling over, it's not overheating.
2) Is there an air dam in place under the car? There were 2-3 different ones, most all have at least an air dam directly under the radiator - some one piece, some 3 piece - all plastic.

im not shure about the damits probly not there cause i have a bumpy drive way and never heard anything scrap or hit as for my fan i still have the clutch fan i havent upgraded yet and is there a way i can test the temp guage or should i gust re mount a new one

1st I'd make sure the air dam is there, they are a necessity on these cars since no air directly enters the front of the car.
I'd try a new sender for the gauge - it's driver side head between #1 & #3 spark plug, has single wire to it.
