Keeping cool again! almost?
Keeping cool again! almost?
Finally fired my car up today for the first time in awhile. Car is a 305 TBI, 5 speed 'bird. I've put a new 2-core aluminum radiator, water pump, thermostat, heater core, and radiator hoses in it. While one of my hose clamps on the lower hose needed tightening, I've found no leaks anywhere else. However, I seem to have mixed results. The radiator and water pump are both doing their job, and the car seems to stay cool (cools down fast when the fan kicks in, thanks to a non-stock radiator!), but the upper radiator hose didn't get hot from coolant, except near the thermostat, and the heater/vent seemed to do a poor job of ventilating warm air to the cabin (it warmed up only slightly after 10 min of running).
Anything I should double check other than the thermostat? I haven't found any coolant inside the car or anywhere other than the undertightened hose clamp from before, and it showed no visible signs of overheating. Temp guage got up to just slightly past 220, and goes back down to around 180-190 when the fan kicks in.
