There are two fittings on the heater core, one is 5/8" and the other is 3/4".
Chances are 999 in 1000 that yours was disconnected and bypassed because it was leaking coolant into the interior.

Yeah, that other hole to the right of the pipe sticking out is where the other pipe should be that has apparently rotted off. You've got to replace the heater core before you can do anything else

You can pick up a Chiltons or Haynes manual for your car for around $20. Not the greatest resource for information, but much better than nothing. Either one should have a diagram showing everything involved in your problem and how to fix. Anything you don't get after reading that stuff we can help you with

I've done a few cores, the tube on the right has a hose that comes out and elbows down into a metal pipe, where the one on the left is a simple long heater hose that goes into a valve by the a/c compressor depending on what year your car is. Autozone has the smaller hose that's correct for your car. not sure if the following link will work but try it ,good luck.

Do a search, it's been described probably a dozen times. You have to partially disassemble the dash.

Here's an article from the technical articles section. Lots of good material in there you may want to look over. I've never done this, but some say you have to loosen and pull back some of the dash also. Anyways, like mentioned above do a search on this board for lots of helpful stuff and you can check this out too.
