Re: metal heater hose line leaking
but its metal all the way back? can i get a heater hose that long? i have a rubber heater hose but near the body it goes onto a metal line that goes back to the firewall, its below the diverter line. how do i plug the diverter line so i know its the metal line its self.

Re: metal heater hose line leaking
Even if you found one, you will never get that line off. I just removed an engine from an 88 GTA today, and that line won't come out until the engine is out.
Just run generic rubber heater hose and leave that pipe where it is.

Re: metal heater hose line leaking
It was probably rusted already, then when it was disrupted during the engine change, it popped.
Of couse even steel lines need to have rubber on the ends for the connections. We are talking about removing the rubber end connetions you have now, and buy heater hose by the foot and run it the full length of were your old rubber-steel-rubber lines were.

thats how my factory one was ran, it came off of the metal line, up under the alternator, threw the bottom of the alternator bracket to the heater line on the waterpump.

Get a piece of 3/4 copper tubing that is bent to fit the area and it will not kink. You can go to a Air Conditioning shop or a place that sells copper fittings and take a piece of your hose and get the length, size and shape piece that fits.
