Air conditioning hose swap question

I am doing a motor swap soon, and am keeping AC. Currently my stock AC hoses have a leak and my ac only lasts about a month if that. They are the kind that run over the radiator shroud, here is a pic:

I want to get new AC hoses, but I dont like how intrusive these are, the way they wrap around the engine bay and look like crap. I would like to use this style hose:

(Bummed this picture from Bota 65, hope thats okay. )

I figure that they have the same fittings, and ends and what not to make them work, they're just in a less intrusive shape.

Simple question, but I cant seem to find an answer..

Thanks!

Re: Air conditioning hose swap question

Just a thought ... The A/C hoses you have linked are for a 2.8 litre 6 cylinder - your sig states a 305 V8 motor - not sure if they are the same (length or whatever) or not - may need to verify as a larger motor might need more A/C line length.

Yeah I am not sure about that exact link, I was trying to show the shape of them, and how they run lower than the ones that I have. I can't seem to find new ones specifically for my motor. I am swapping a 355 in, but keeping the same accessories, so no changes there.

Re: Air conditioning hose swap question

Bump..

Anyone know where to buy these new?

---

Found these on the napa site:

https://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/C...+50012+2012008

But no price and it doesn't say if they're even available. I thought it would be easier to find these. lol

Re: Air conditioning hose swap question

I am pretty sure that the fittings on the lines would be the same, so I am willing to take a chance on that part.

I just need to know where to buy new AC lines? Anyone?

Re: Air conditioning hose swap question

If you are anywhere in the Broward County area of Fl my buddy Jon of Jons Auto Air makes A/C hoses. I have an 86 IROC that he just made all the hoses for and had my compressor rebuilt.

Re: Air conditioning hose swap question

It looks like your existing hoses might be able to be tucked under the upper rad support. No?

I was thinking that having a custom set made was my only other alternative. May I ask how much he charged to make a set of AC hoses?

My current hoses leak and are garbage as far as I am concerned, and I fear that if they are bent down in front of the radiator, that it would accelerate the rate of wear and they would just develop a leak faster than if they were left alone.

Re: Air conditioning hose swap question

I talked to him and he said between 80 to 100 for both hoses. He would need the Manifold and connectors attached to the original hoses.

Re: Air conditioning hose swap question

You can always swap to the serp setup which puts the compressor on the pass side and not worry about ac hoses running all over the engine bay...just gotta do a little rewiring for the alt and get a reverse flow pump.
