3rd gen ls1 overheating
Well heres the deal. Everything on my cooling system seems to be working. Fans r running. Not loosing any water. I have an aftermarket temp gauge from autometer. If im on idle or running down the freeway my gauge just keeps gettn hotter and hotter. It will literally go up to 240. But when i shut the engine off i hear no overheating symptoms. Any help appreciated. Thanx
Re: 3rd gen ls1 overheating
Does it just get hot going down the road & not when idling? If so I'd check the air dam & make sure the air is going through the radiator & not around it (like missing deflectors).

I agree with checking the air dams, could also be a stuck closed or stuck mostly closed thermostat.
