Fan not going on upon 1st start

Transmission: T56
Axle/Gears: 3.23 posi
Fan not going on upon 1st start
Is it a sticky/stuck thermostat? Lately the fan will not kick on the first start of the dayeven when temp goes past 190. Temp will climb to 220 and beyond and fan won't start spinning. If I shut off the car and restart, they it goes on and temp drops appropriately. I never used to see the needle past the first line very long.
