Flushed coolant with prestone 50/50.. bad idea??

I decided to flush my fluids and got the shop to flush the coolant while they were at it.
I used Prestone premixed stuff and now my car runs very hot!!

Should I be using a different mix ratio??
Or different coolant?
Thank you.

I read somewhere that when you fluch it, it is still half full of water, so you fill the rest with pure coolant to get a 50/50 mix. Obviously you can't drain all of the water when you flush it.

You probably have an air lock. Adjust the heater to full blast hot. Jack up the front right side of the car. Start the engine and run it until it reaches operating temp. Add your 50/50 mix into the rad cap opening until the level stops going down. Replace rad cap. Should be all good afer that.

Does he have the reverse flowing LT1 engine?????

Those are instructions for that along with bleeder screws

to the OP- did they "flush" the system or did they simply drain the radiator? There is a difference. 50/50 with Prestone is just fine and has been around for years and years and years and years

Many here tend to forget that we have absolutely no bloody clue with respect to the coolant passages inside your engine and anyone else' engine

We tend to treat troubleshooting like it's with a healthy and well maintained engine. These vehicles are 20-30 years old with unknown maintenance and repair histories. (except those of us who have done a proper complete rebuild)

the basics are the basics

is there good air flow- inspect/replace items if not

is the thermostat good

is the water flowing - waterpump

is coolant leaking into the engine and you keep adding it?

if the basics of cooling don't fix your problem then the engine needs to be torn down completely and dipped at a machine shop and inspected. Good air flow, 50/50 mix coolant and good water flow. You can easily address the external portions of all of that and if it still overheats............it's big money time.

open up a few older engines that did not have regular oil changes, coolant flushes and used cheap gas and see what they look like.

the old adage of pay me now or pay me later is painfully obvious once you crack the lid on poorly maintained engines.

And not getting the deposit-forming, electrolysis-promoting dissolved minerals in tap water.
