Cleaning out the radiator
What are the pros and cons of removing the tanks from a stock 3 row radiator? I wanna take the radiator so that someone can remove the tanks so that they can clean out the core but I'm not sure if its better replace the radiator all together. you see my issue is over heating. I dumped copper silica (stop leak), and I think the fiber glass has clogged the core to a point that the coolant is flowing into the reservoir (overheating). So would it be better to service the radiator? Money is a bit tight at the moment.

that stop leak is no joke, it congels into a goopy mess. is replace the radiator all together. youll probably wind up paying more to have somone clean it out then a new one would cost anyway.

Re: Cleaning out the radiator
well let me explain. I live just 5 minutes North of Mexicali, Mexico. They desolder and clean out, then resolder the tanks for only $30. So would that be a better deal than buying a new radiator? Will a serviced stock 3 row radiator have good cooling effects like a new one?

would you trust a $30 solder job to last for any length of time?

$30 buck is approx 31000 pesos. Yes. I do have trust. My cousin had a complete engine and tranny overhaul 4 years ago to his Trans AM by the same shop. Still running strong today.

Re: Cleaning out the radiator
funny haha that where all stock replacements get done, cores are sent to Mexico and cleaned, painted and resold. Just like lots of car parts.
go for it.
go for it.

Pretty much. Makes the US companies that much richer. Huge profits. Its a slap in the face when companies claim that thier product is American made but in small fine print, you read Made in Mexico or Made in CHina. Go figure.
