Need help with fans... L98 dual.

I just bought this car and I've been going over it. New msd coil, ac cap and rotor, calipers and hoses, well now I'm tackling the fans. The driver side fan comes on with the key so I'm assuming its wired up straight? The passenger side fan doesn't do anything. I've replaced the coolant temp SENSOR and SENDER and a 180 T stat. What little I've driven it (not very far) it only got up to 1/4 of the gauge maybe a little higher for a second but went straight back to 1/4 up. I want the fans to work the way they were intended but I also don't want the car running at 240 degrees. I'm going to get a chip burnt for the fans to come on sooner for a 170 Tstat later on but I want to get them operating correctly first. Got any ideas where to start?

You have to start with the fan that comes on with the key. It shouldn't.
The secondary fan(pass side) is controlled by the fan switch (and A/C) in the pass cyl head (between rear 2 cyl spark plugs).
The computer controls the primary (dr side) fan..

A factory service manual from Helm is of great help and so is the search feature, once you figure out what terms to use.

Re: Need help with fans... L98 dual.

I've searched. I knew the primary was the driver side and it was controlled by the ecm I just didn't understand why the other didn't work. Until now anyway. I unplugged the pass side fan and plugged it back in and now it works with the key as well. I just can't find where its wired up straight from. Wheres the common place? I've looked in the fuse box and in the battery box area and can't find any splices? The previous owner had the thermostat removed from it as well. I'm thinking the sensor for the pass side went bad and they just straight wired it. I just can't find where from. Thanks
