my 305 tpi has a stock water pump but with a different serpentine belt rotation its all clockwise with the crank..the originall picture under the hood says to turn the waterpump counter clockwise but since my brackets are different idk if i should leave it the way it is because my stock waterpump is still pumping coolant at 180 degrees and the thermostat operates good..should i turn everything to stock rotation to not damage anything or will i be okay? please give me ur thought

 

does the top of the waterpump have a mounting lug
with a threaded hole?if it does that is standard rotation.
If there is no lug,reverse rotation for '88 up sepentine.
The pulley bolt pattern is different for the two rotations
with factory pumps.The pump will still pump the same
direction running backwards but flow will be reduced.

 

Yes it does have a lug on top...does this mean im flowing right? Nd i appreciate all the help

seems someone swapped the waterpump and re-routed
the belt,perhaps in order to delete an accesory pulley...
