92 RS 305 AC Compressor Clutch not engaging
92 RS 305 AC Compressor Clutch not engaging
Hadn't had my AC working in a while since my car would overheat with it on. Now that I'm gonna put a new water pump on it thought I would charge the AC. So at first I got the R134 and turned the car on and the Max AC on and started to squeeze some R134 in it and the compressor clutch started kicking on and off about every second. So I turned the car off and disconnected the coupler of the refrigerant from the inlet and well the valve stem in the adapter was broke so however little R134 that got in there just spewed right out. So I got a new adapter. Now I've got it about 3/4 full of R134 but now the AC Compressor Clutch isn't turning on. I tried jumping the low pressure switch, I think is what you call it, the plug going to the AC canister, with a paper clip and that didn't do anything for the clutch. Any ideas???

Sound like you need more anti freeze. It will usually cycle often when very low on freon.
I just charged mine and have a different problem, very cold now after adding a oil charge, conditioner, charge, leak fix. and a can of r-12. well now my compresser is making a bad noise. I sure hope it is not going out after i just added all the expensive stuff to it. I hope you find a good answer for your question. And if anyone has a answer for me that would be cool to. Thank

Yea well if I can't get the clutch to engage on and off properly I'm not gonna spend any money on it I'll just eat the $30 I spent on refrigerant and move on to more important things like my Rocker Cover gaskets and Water Pump. Then I'll probably just do the AC delete and get rid of that gas mileage robbing AC Compressor and drive with the windows down like I have for 5 years.
