How are the AC Compressor cables connected in an '87 350 TPI?

I have recently bought an '87 IROC-Z and it does not have a working AC. I took it to an AC shop to find out what was wrong and the shop found that none of the cables were connected. After hooking them up and testing the system they told me that the compressor was dead and it needed to be replaced (they then gave me a speech about how it needed to be converted to R134a and how I was going to ruin the Earth blah blah blah $700 blah blah blah). They then proceeded to disconnect the wires again which is a problem for me since I never saw how they were connected in the first place. So how are the cables connected to the compressor? I have rebuilt engines in the past but I have absolutely no knowledge about the AC system beyond what each component is and what it does. I have depressurized the AC system and had the R12 reclaimed. To my knowledge there are no leaks.

Cool Connection

The light green wire and the light blue wire connect to the aluminum canister on the firewall.

The
dark green wire and the black wire connect to the compressor.

However the compressor will not run (if you made the connections correctly) because there is no refrigerant.

Once you charge the system you then can operate the HVAC mode selector to see if the comp turns.

Happy Racing!
