How do I remove my clutch fan??
So I got my 84 Z28 5-speed and I want to remove my clutch fan and replace it with a new one because I believe that the clutch attached to it is no longer working and responding to temperatures, but anyways there where 4 bolts behind the clutch so I removed them only to find that that only releases the blades....please help me out thanks

Re: How do I remove my clutch fan??
there should be 4 nuts that mount the clutch to the water pump pulley. Unbolt those 4 nuts and the fan clutch should literally fall right off. Sometimes you have to put a big screwdriver on 2 of the studs to hold it from moving while loosening the other nuts. After you have removed the fan clutch take the fan blades off of it making sure you notice which direction the blades get installed. You don't want to install the fan blades backwards. (don't ask me how i know). Sometimes the new clutch has a bronze bushing. If its needed make sure you install it on the waterpump center stud, otherwise your fan will wobble. installation is the reverse of the install. Should be really easy to do. Any problems or questions just ask.

out of curiosity, why did you think the fan clutch was bad? did it keep spinning for a while after you shut the engine off? was the car running hot?

Re: How do I remove my clutch fan??
usually the way you can tell if a fan clutch is bad is when you turn the engine on when its cold you should hear a 'Roar' from the clutch fluid being cold and activating the fan. If you dont hear a 'Roar' your fan could be bad. personally I would get an electric fan if my clutch went bad, but a manual fan usually cools the car down better but uses more HP.
