HELP, need some info on a "Mark VIII" Cooling fan swap
Hello,
I've read about the Ford Taurus/Mark VIII fan swaps on third gens to help with them not running so cool with the stock fans and recently scored an almost brand new one from a buddy's totaled Mark VIII 1995 model (it was hit from the rear).
I removed the fan and cut the harness, but what else would I need to make this cooling fan swap functional (I have a 1984 Trans Am L69 305HO with the electric single fan unit)..
(btw if any of you are looking for the Mark VIII fans, they are also found on V8 thunderbirds and V8 mustangs around that year)

Look at some of my other post since I recently swapped to the Taurus fan. Best swap you will ever do. You have to have a 40 amp fuse and use bigger wire (Fine Stranded) than the fan came with to be safe. I like pro audio wire on important things like this. Look for a 40 amp resettable breaker (pro audio) for it. I have been using them and they work great. I mounted my battery in the trunk and have a 200 amp resettable breaker and you can flip a switch and kill power to the car without taking battery cables off. Very conveinant and much safer than stock.

This is a somewhat old thread but I have some info on using a 3-speed fan harness that would work nicely with your Mark VIII fan. Let me know if you're interested....worth a try anyway.
