two or three core?

My radiator just sprang a leak and I am looking to upgrade to all aluminum. Should I purchase a two or three core radiator? I have a 305 with dual electric fans and a 160 thermostat. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Re: two or three core?

Do you plan on doing engine upgrades that would require extra capacity? From what I researched here, the original aluminum core/plastic tank radiator does a fine job of cooling the car. A replacement radiator might do just fine if your car is stock.

Re: two or three core?

I got this one a couple of years ago when I upgraded my 305 to 355 and it has been great so.

It bolts right in with no modding needed. There are several stores on eBay selling it, I got my locally from some selling them out of his garage. Highly recommend it, all aluminum no plastic.

Re: two or three core?

My 414 solid roller LS motor was kept cool just fine with a dual core radiator from Entropy. The motor made 740 at the flywheel and turned 8k RPM. This was in 100+ texas heat.

Re: two or three core?

I have a 3 core and the only problem I have is on a cool night, heat in the car will kind of suck. It happens but I'm also running a 160 stat. I could fix that with a 180 stat but the car doesn't see alot of driving and its pointless to switch it for the once in a blue moon nights that I drive and it happens to be chilly. The good thing about a 3 core is that you can idle in chicago traffic on a 105 degree day and the temp stays at around 190 with the fans coming on once every 15 minutes. Just remember to keep your airdam intact and once you get moving, the temp will drop to 160ish and you'll be golden.
