You need a better oil and check to see of your fans are working. The hotter a car gets the oil gets hot and cheap oil gets thinner the hotter it gets. Try mobil one 15w50 from autozone and check if your fans are coming on.

" It gave me problems" No way to know what that means. You need to describe what happened and what specific problems developed for anybody to know what it might be

Ian going to change the oil and the the fans are working fine all I mean with it giving me problems is that it starts to heat up before this problem one or two fuel injector were bad so they were replace I don't know if that has anything to do with this heating problem but it didn't heat up before

Re: 1992 z28

I have the same heating problem and when it is moving it runs around 160 and standing it climbs to 240 then the one fan comes on to drop it to 200.

It should be the thermostat that is causing it. Run the car and feel the upper radiator hose. If the hose feels like it is under allot of pressure and very firm when the fan comes on the t-stat is not opening.
It should be the culprit. I used a thermal scanner to verify that my temp gage was correct and it is on the money.
