Heat

I got rid of my heater core and decided to do something different. I ran some 3/8" hose from the intake manifold coolant outlet, through the firewall, around the gas pedal, looped around in front of the seat, then went back through the firewall to the waterpump. I installed a handle-valve right in front of the seat so I can shut off the flow if it gets too hot in the car. I gotta say, it works really well. Later on, I'll add some more hose and loop it around the passenger side floorboard so passengers can also get some heat.

Re: Heat

A hose full of hot coolant will certainly put out some heat. I have nearly 10ft of the hose in the cabin. I was just posting this on here to say that there is options for heat other than using a heater core.

Re: Heat

i have followed this post from the start . i fail to see any merit to your idea . all i see a section of hose bursting inside the car . what would happen on the interstate if a hose burst at 70 mph with passengers ??? someone might get hurt/die . please , please fix your leaking heater core the correct way . good luck .

Re: Heat

A 12v space heater would have been at the very least, safer.

How would they die?
Tonight on 1001 ways to die: number 1001, death by "spewing hot coolant from a rigged hot roder heating sytem."
