Please help with dual fan set up

Hello,

This past summer I was having overheating problems with my 1984 (355)Camaro. The car has a single electric fan and is controlled by an aftermarket fan controller (derale fan controller) The car ran well with this single fan set up for a few years and then this summer the fan motor started making noises and the fuse would blow time after time. The last time it did this it blew the fuse and melted the fuse holder so badly that I had to replace it. Long story short, the fan motor was pooched so I went ahead and found a dual fan setup from a 89 Gta. I was able to control when my single fan came on but now that I have this dual set up I am not sure what I need to do to make this work. I was reading here at TGO and from what I gathered I want the drivers side fan to come on at 185-190 degrees and the passenger side to come on at a higher temperature. Wondering if I can run both fans off my derale fan controller? you have any advise or experience with this please share.
I found this dual fan controller, from derale...
Amazon Amazon
Thanks

Re: Please help with dual fan set up

One of the fans were actually meant for using the AC. But they both can be used for cooling. I use mine that way on my drag car. I would assume you could wire them together somehow but possibly have to run heavier gauge wires to the control and a larger fuse. Or wire up a separate switch all together through a relay.

Re: Please help with dual fan set up

The thing for me is that my 1984 Berlinetta didn't have electric fan, so this is in no ways stock for me. I may end up using the relay idea as that is also what a mechanic friend had suggested to do. I do like the derale dual fan controller. I was looking around on google and seen this dual fan controller,http://www.frsport.com/DIF-10085-The...C_p_15992.html
Let me know what you guys think.

Re: Please help with dual fan set up

yea thats the ticket . i'm getting that . when i said I wanted stock ,I guess I meant I didn,t want to run some wires and a switch. this looks like a good mod.

Try searching for a document written by moderator Willie. It's very complete, with part numbers and descriptions for various relays, thermostats and fans. Tons of suggestions.

Going to read it now. Thank you for the link two-if-by-sea.

Re: Please help with dual fan set up

Well the links for the single and dual fans are dead but further on in the thread a member reposted this one on the dual set ups. I think it may be the original article. Lots of interesting reading here. http://members.rennlist.com/3liter6/cool8dual.pdf

Yes, that's the one. I knew it was out there somewhere. This post is what I was talking about. I have a copy of the PDF stored on my computer:
