Cooling issue
I have bought a new radiator,165 degree therm and a new fan that produces 1250 cfm that pushes air from engine into the radiator. I am running at about 230 to 240 degrees. I wasn't sure if the airflow from the fan should be pushing air into the radiator or pushing onto the engine. I just know that 230 to 240 if way hotter than I need to be running. The water pump is working and I have great flow inside the radiator.
ALso when I run the ac it heats up to 250 degrees so obviously I can run the ac and its getting hot outside and I need ac. I am at a loss and need some advice on what to do to get my temp down. Please help

Re: Cooling issue
Btw I am running a single 14 inch fan and I have it wired to run at all times that the engine is running. I thought this might help get answers to the issue and not more questions. I also have an aftermarket temp gauge for accurate readings. Thanks

Re: Cooling issue
al least three problems-fan blowing wrong way-should be pulling air through radiator from front,1250 CFM waay too small for the job ,fan pushing through radiator less effective than pulling(especially working against ram airflow)
Reconfigure the fan you are using as a puller and it will do better, but a larger higher power fan will be needed when weather starts to get hot-i recon the original style single fans are good for ~2200-2400 CFM,some aftermarket or salvaged OEM electric fans can pull over 3500 CFM from a single fan of around 16"diameter

Re: Cooling issue
Thanks for the advice. I thought the fan was too small and wrong direction but wanted to double check here first before I did anything radical. I bought a universal fan from autozone. What fan would you refer me to get. I heard other fans from other vehicles push a lot more air that can be used. Again thanks

Re: Cooling issue
I just reversed polarities and fan blowing onto engine now. I will see how it works tommorrow and post reply. I will also look into a better fan when I get response on what's best for these cars. Thanks again

Re: Cooling issue
i just modded a set of 01 grand am dual fans to work, i had to cut the shroud for the lower hose and grind the one fan bracket to clear my steering but its dual 14 s blades, seem to do the job but real test is gonna be the summer in town.

Re: Cooling issue
Update:
After running the vihicle in stop and go traffic, the fan that i installed is clearly not enough to keep engine cool. 1250 cfm is like pissing in the wind. It runs 200 while driving but rises to 230 to 240 in stop and go traffic. I am trying to find a single fan that produces the required amount of air to keep my engine cool. The only fans at the parts store for our vehicles is the one i have installed. They are no help so i am asking what new fan can i purchase from a different type of vehicle that is a good fit and produce ample amount of air. Thanks for your help.

Re: Cooling issue
If you search the posts, I remember seeing where someone had adapted a single fan from a Ford Taurus and claimed that their over-heating problems were over.

Re: Cooling issue
The 1990-95 taurus 3.8Lv6 is a single fan that would do the job well-several on here have used that fan with good results, that fan requires high current wiring and relays to be set up for it and i'd upgrade to a CS144 or '90s era ford alternator if a CS 130 alternator is being used. For aftermarket, flexalite has some fans of around a 15" blade that should be decent(black magic,ETC.) I have a black magic i bought about 15 yrs ago for a project i didn't finish and it is rated at 2800CFM-i think more recent versions of the black magic are rated a little higher.Probably will have to spend~$250-350 for a good aftermarket single fan setup,~$50-150 to get and setup a salvaged OEM high output single fan
