fan switch sensor

so I received my radiator today.. but I haven't received my fan switch sensor yet.. should I wait and install it all at once when my sensor gets here or can I install the radiator and then the fan switch later on.? the reason for my question is I don't want to have the new radiator installed with new coolant and later install the fan switch and leak all the coolant out.. or does the fan switch not hold any coolant

Re: fan switch sensor

if you're installing a lower temp (lower than stock) fan switch, you might want to consider a lower temp t-stat as well. meaning that if you put in a 200 fan switch but keep a 195 t-stat, basically you're gonna work the heck out of your fan and the t-stat will seldom open. once that fan comes on, it's pretty much gonna stay on for long periods of time. in other words, the t-stat may open, but the fan coming on and cooling it down is gonna work against the t-stat opening, since the temps are so close (195 and 200). i have a 180 t-stat with a 200 on / 180 off switch. i had run a 195 t-stat with that same switch and it was always on...but i also have indicator lights on my dash for my fans and can monitor them and know exactly when they are on/off and under what conditions...

Re: fan switch sensor

stone - will post later with pix and "how to", but iirc, ran the positive wire for lamp to a switched circuit, then the ground to the respective fan circuit ground, so once that circuit grounded, the lamp would light up...

Re: fan switch sensor

stone: (and whoever else may be interested) tried to upload pics of my fan monitor lights, but for some reason, it keeps failing to upload. The jist of it, tho, is that I ran 3 wires from under the hood for (1) a key on power source, and (2) & (3) a ground from each fan grounding circuit. as with the fans, once that circuit grounds, it lights up the indicator light(s). I got the lights from radio shack and mounted them on the cluster trim panel near the rear defrost switch. I will try again later to get the pics up, but don't have time to mess with them right now... sorry. if you pm me, I can email them to you for now.
