Need dual fan motor. Want a new one
I just installed a dual fan setup in my 84 camaro and one of the fans is making a groaning and whining noise on startup, takes about 2 minutes and it goes away. Seems that this motor needs to be replaced. My question is this, Can I buy a new fan motor for this fan?? or is my only option to buy another used one and instal it and hope for the best? I would really rather just get a new fan motor and be done with it. I would buy a used one again but would need to be tested to be sure it is not worn out too.

I looked at autozone and was unable to find the fan...83C_CamAroZ28 could you provide a link? Many thanks. I found one on ebay new for $42 but the shipping is also $46. Apparently the single and dual fan set ups used the same fan motor...that's news to me.

Dang...too bad you didn't know sooner.....I could have set you up with a dual fan assembly from an LT1. Well, keep me posted on the 3-speed harness.

Re: Need dual fan motor. Want a new one
Formula, what's the difference from the one I have to the LS1 dual fan assembly? Would it bolt right up to my car? The 3 speed harness is running very well. The high speed fan hasn't even come on yet. The fans never comes on when I am on the highways, temperature stays around 190 and when I get back into town traffic the temp rises up to 212 after about 5 minutes and when the fan comes on it's not long before the temperature is back down at about 202.

Here's a link to Oreileys. It appears that both motors are the same.

No, the LT1 fans are altogether different in design-they won't interchange with your OEM 3rd gen ones. I just meant if you had to go with a different dual fan setup, the LT1 fans would be a nice upgrade-they too can run in parallel at 3 speeds as well.

Apparently the single and dual fan set ups used the same fan motor
Yup, I've pulled the motor off a single fan to use on a duel fan frame in the past. Kinda' a PITA - but using the used motor I already had was better than spending $$ on new parts. There was some minor difference - I don't recall what - but it was insignificant and the fan motor swap was a success.
You wired your duel fans to run in 3 speeds,..... NICE ! I wouldn't change a thing.

As said, local parts stores have these in stock.
I'm fairly sure L98, LT1 and LS1 fan motors are the same.. I have interchanged LT and LS motors with my L98 with no issues..

If they'd ship I would buy two of them and swap out both fans for new ones.

Re: Need dual fan motor. Want a new one
Here they are. Like I said, purchased motors & blades for Corvette from Ecklers assuming they would be an upgrade as specs on this kind of stuff are really hard to come by. They worked fine in my car but tore car down to address Jessel rocker shaft rocker arm problems, ended up changing to Crowers, upgraded entire cooling system even more, electrical system and just generally addressed everything that might be less than optimal for an 800 rwhp street car with ac. There is absolutely nothing wrong with them, they were hardly run at all on the car as I only got about 80 miles out of the engine before defective rockers took a dump. I will absolutely stand behind these fans, no worries. Just thought I might release them to someone that needs them rather than look at them in the corner of the shop. Ecklers are high on everything so you can rest assured, $50 each is a deal compared to what I paid for blades and motors. They did fit right into the 3 legged housing exact fit. Blades are one less than Camaro but much wider and more pitch than Camaro/firebird blades. Let me know if interested via PM or Email.

Re: Need dual fan motor. Want a new one
Formula, are you referring to the fan motors from autozone? And thanks for the offer. I just might take you up on it. By the way the fan relay is still on the blink, have had it to the shop and all the wiring and relay check out. However there is no power to the two relay on the drivers side. So we traced all the wires and cannot find any place where there was a short. The wiring looks great. So we plan to try the fans by running power directly to them to see if the fans are pooched. Also the mechanic was puzzled as he said the resistor coil pack had no power...?? Topradman.....those look great. I do want them, the only issue is that I am in Canada and the shipping would most likely be a bitch. How much would you charge to ship to Rydens border store in Minnesota. (zipcode is 55605)
Thanks for the help guys.

Hmmm....since your relay bank got real wet, its hard to say what happened to the relay bank.....it would be better to call me and I can walk you through what to check and how. By design, the 3rd and 4th relays get constant battery power on pin 30....so probe those to verify battery voltage. 515-979-4038 is my number which I think you have already....give me call at your convenience.
