I found this problem in the passenger footwell compartment, why I have no heat in my car. Vacuum is fine and I can feel the rod move, but this simple plastic construction is out of order. Look in the middle of the pictures. Do you know if it's possible to replace this piece, and where to source it from? I might buy a complete heater box if necessary, but hope I can transplant this thingy without dismantling the interior.
Any ideas for a quick fix will be appreciated.

I would question being able to find the part and, replacing it would need dismantling.
I, personally, would probably try using JB Weld (or, a 2 part epoxy/resin) to glue the pieces back together before trying replacement. The part the rod broke away from should be easily moved by hand. If it got stuck for some reason, that may be why it broke to start with.

Thanks for your reply. I'd might try to glue the pieces together, but I suspect there is a missing part too. Anybody have a picture of what it should look like to function properly? The plastic piece still left on the box side is stuck, so I will have to try loosening it in some way.
Excuse me, but where is the blend door located? -above the broken link, or to the far right in the pictures? Where can I find detailed pictures or drawings?

The blend door is where the rod broke free from.
(attached drawing is very crude representation of blend door)

Thanks for helping me! I will try to open it and look what's inside

Thanks your help, and thanks to all informative threads about heater boxes previosly discussed. I was able to open the box and free the blend door from binding. I have put it all together and now it's possible to adjust the blend door by hand from down in the passenger feet compartment. I don't think gluing the pieces together will be strong enough and still keep the sliding function in this link. All advices on where to buy this part will be appreciated. For instance car wreckers, people who have discarded the box for racing purposes or somebody else with a partly broken heater box where it ended up on the shelf.

IIRC this "rod" is different from AC heater boxes compared to Non-AC heater boxes....
Just something to watch out for !!
