HELP! Install A/C unit from scratch
Purchase a 84 Camaro (v8, 5.0) w/o the a/c unit in it. Texas summer is coming up and I need to put a new on in. Need instructions on how to install everything, then I will have a shop recharge it. As of now every shop is charging $800+ to install/recharge. I can get that price below $200 if I can install the parts myself. This is where I'm currently at:
Parts I got:
• A/C Compressor
• A/C Receiver Drier
• A/C Condenser
• Heater core
• Evaporator core
• Heat/AC Fan motor
• A/C Main Compressor hose
Still in car:
Heater core
Evaporator (and blower).
Any help is appreciated!

do you have the engine side of the heater box? i am not 100 percent sure but i know that you need to unbolt the non a/c blower motor housing and replace it with one that will house the blower and ac evap, heater controls will be different as well as vac lines, you will also need the water shut off valve to stop the hot coolant from going into the heater core when using ac

You'll need the orifice tube: http://www.autozone.com/autozone/par...mString=search
(just search autozone for your car, but it should be the same)
and you'll need the A/C pressure switch for the fan. Are you converting to R134? If so, you'll need the conversion kit for it. The shop might be willing to do it though. Make sure you flush everything as well. You can buy the A/C flush at Autozone.
Was your car originally set up for A/C? It sounds like it was seeing as the Evap is in the car already.

Re: HELP! Install A/C unit from scratch
All the parts I have are from an 86' (except what is still in the 84'). The receiver drier is new. I picked up an orifice tube from AutoZone. The engine side of the heater box is still in the 84'. I want to switch to R134. I'm not familiar w/the water shutoff valve? Also I was told that only a shop can do the flush for me? And yes it was originally set up for A/C.
Thanks for the help so far, please keep it coming!!!

Plus there are many instructional videos on the internet which may help. Production values vary a lot.
