Damaged evaporator inlet threads

Some of my evaporator core inlet threads split apart. Does that mean I have to change the whole evaporator? I saw this http://www.autozone.com/autozone/par...858137_6317_0_
Is this kit meant to fix this kind of thing?

Re: Damaged evaporator inlet threads

Why not just change out the evap?

All of about a 15 minute job, plus whatever it takes repairing the crispified part of the housing right next to the exh man, which yours needs anyway, same as all the rest... last time I needed one, I visited my local buzzard; got there at about 4:52 (closing time 5:00); walked out onto the lot, found a car, had the entire core w housing out, sitting on the counter before 5. Literally.

It's not hard at all.
