Trying to get back to factory, is this correct?

A few years ago I changed my thermostat to 160 and added a manual toggle switch for my fan... Worst thing I could have done, the car could never warm up properly. I finally got a chance to change it back and my research revealed that a 195 degree thermostat with a duralast sw500 and ac delco PT 308 wire.

The fan isn't coming on until approx 240 degrees (according to the gauge). I am trying to figure out if my fan switch install was successful. Is there any other backup emergency fan switch that exists if the car reaches a certain temp that is kicking in?

It should also be noted that i also replaced the coolant temp sensor in the water neck as well, which is throwing off my trouble shooting, could this have anything to do with anything?

I never remember my temp going even a hair above 220 on the gauge with my old setup and now it is right at 240.

Im just trying to get back to normal.
Is this a factory setup?

i have my fan on all the time (the car came like that) i too have 195 stat
mine sits just a little below 220, and with ac on a little above 220 gets as high as 240.

im going to install a aftermarket temp gauge i never liked the stock stuff
never seemed accurate at all.

Before you drive yourself CRAZYpickup a laser temp gun and see if the gauge is reading right. The gauge could be off.
