Working on heater core replacement things breaking

So as I am working on replacing the core connectors that I try to remove are so dang brittle they all break. There is 2 thin tubes on the passenger side of the engine above the core hoses that I tried to move aside and they both snapped. What are these tiny hoses? Vacuum hoses or something? I need to know the names to find replacements.

So after a little research I believe they are the lines for the HVAC bypass. Does anyone know if there are aftermarket parts for this?

Yes they are vacuum lines. Nothing elaborate or high-tech, just vac lines you can buy at any parts store.

There is no such thing as "HVAC bypass". No there are no aftermarket parts for it.

One of the lines feeds vacuum from the engine, into the cabin, to the HVAC control head, which then sends it to all the little diaphragms that work the doors that control the flow of air out the various vents in the dash; the other goes from the HVAC control head to the heater control valve, and controls whether hot water is allowed to flow through the heater core (necessary obviously in order to have heat, totally unnecessary when the system is on its lowest temp setting, i.e. no heat, such as when the A/C is set to max cool)

So is this line hard shelled from factory or was it rubber in the begining and dried out?
I just looked at a couple auto store websites and didn't see anything I was looking for so just trying to get an idea of what it is.

I believe several of the lines were hard formed nylon(?) lines from the factory. You can replace them with the softer stuff from the auto-parts store as long as you get the right size, the only downside being that they don't stay in one place as easily.

That's the heater control valve.

Goes to one of those 2 lines coming through the firewall. All ya gotta do is figure out which one. Which becomes SOOOOOPER OBVIOUS if you pull the control head and LOOK AT the little valve thing that the lines all go to.
