Removing blower completely

So I was going to remove the blower motor and heater core completely. This isn't a drag car but street/strip no daily driving but a cruiser. The car is a summer car with T-tops so majority of the time they will be off unless it is raining. Has anyone saw any adverse effects from removing the heater core and blower? I was thinking of adding a small 12v fan at the bottom of the duct work just so it moves some around around and across the windshield instead of the entire heater core. Any ideas?

Re: Removing blower completely

I used to have a small 12 volt heater fan that with a little creative wiring one could seperate the heat to it's own switch. I'm starting a similer project with my son (85 t-top T/A) and this was a recent discucussion we had . My only concern was getting caught rain with no defroster. I had thought about just keeping a couple of these in the storage compartment as emergency backup to use as a defroster.

Re: Removing blower completely

I tried that years ago with my s10. Had the heater bypassed temporarily and didn't have the fan working.

I fixed it after one night that I had some fogging issues. I had to use my shirt to wipe the windshield off so I could half way see. Its been too long to remember all the details, but I remember that.

But my intention had always been to keep it. Just all depends on what you are willing to put up with.

Re: Removing blower completely

My car came with all that removed, cracking the windows a little in the rain fixes the fogging for me

Yeah I don't plan on driving in the rain it is down right scary as it is. I mean if I drove to work and it rained then I wouldn't have a choice but am a little concerned about no defrost.

I like the idea of one of those 12v fan heaters and wiring the heat on a switch I'll have to look into it.

Re: Removing blower completely

I found this as an alternative.
https://www.amazon.com/DC-Thermal-SD.../dp/B00BTHH49I

I was thinking 1 vent for each front window. It would only be for those rainy days so I think it might be worth a look and $200 isn't going to break the bank.
