Oparating temp on a 3.1

my 3.1 stays consistently at 200-220 never higher than 220 even in gridlock traffic. I don’t think this is considered over heating but i think it’s a bit to warm. What do you guys think

Re: Oparating temp on a 3.1

Sounds pretty normal to me.

What makes you think it's "too warm"?

How are you measuring that temp?

Factory gauge on dash isn't known for precision.

I think it’s just a hair to warm. It smells a bit warm. The hood feels warmer than my other cars even with the pad/mat under the hood

If it’s still running at the 220f after coolant change and t stat you could have your computer chip (memcal) reprogrammed to lower the fan on and off temperatures. Most calibrations have the fan kick on at 226f.

Drained all the old coolent out. Put in a new thermostat. Dropped down to a 180 instead of the 195. Took it for a night drive worked great. I’ll be taking it out again next Thursday and Friday I’ll report back after some day driving
